The Massachusetts Education Diversity Act (EDA) was signed into law by Governor Maura Healey on November 20, 2024, marking a historic step toward addressing a long-standing imbalance in public education. Nearly half of the Commonwealth’s students are students of color, yet only about one in ten teachers share their background. By centering equity and representation, the Act creates real pathways to help close the gap between students and educators of color, ensuring every child can learn from teachers who understand and affirm their experiences.
