Fellowship Empowers Latino Educators to Transition into Key Leadership Roles and Drive Impactful Change
Boston, MA — Latinos for Education is excited to announce the selection of 79 exceptional Latino leaders for its Aspiring Latino Leaders Fellowship (ALLF). This esteemed program is dedicated to supporting Latino professionals within the education sector in Massachusetts, Houston, and the Bay Area, helping them step into leadership roles and advance their careers.
The Aspiring Latino Leaders Fellowship offers a comprehensive, hands-on training experience designed to help Latino educators and administrators harness their unique experiences and identities to elevate their leadership potential. The program provides crucial professional development, including leadership training, and connects participants to a robust network of over 800 alumni, fostering a vibrant community for career advancement.
Despite Latino students making up more than 29% of the public K-12 student population, Latino representation within the educator workforce remains insufficient, with Latinos comprising only 9% of all teachers and principals, and similarly low figures in other administrative and leadership roles.
“The Aspiring Latino Leaders Fellowship empowers Latino educators to rise to their fullest potential and drive positive change in education. We’re proud to support this exceptional group of Fellows as they embark on their journey to become visionary leaders who will inspire future generations,” said Amanda Fernandez, CEO of Latinos for Education.
The 2024 cohort of ALLF Fellows includes a diverse group of professionals ranging from math instructors to school counselors, administrators, and principals across higher education institutions and K-12 schools in some of the country’s largest school districts including Houston Independent School District, Boston Public Schools and San Mateo Union High School District.
