Familias Latinas Por La Educación is a leadership development program for adult relatives of school-aged children who want to positively impact their education. Participants engage through in-person instruction and gain access to resources, tools, and frameworks grounded in best practices they can incorporate into their leadership for durable advocacy.
Knowledge: Participants will expand their understanding of the educational system, learning about resources, tools, and frameworks based on best practices to more effectively support the educational experiences of their children and other children in their community.
Confidence: Participants will increase their ability to effectively advocate for changes in policies and practices.
Advocacy: Participants will identify parent-led solutions by exploring resources and participatory development to form a “parent-led activist agenda.
Resources: Participants will leverage family and linguistic capital to support the education of their school-aged children, enhancing communication and collaboration with district and school leaders.
Upon completing the training sessions, participants will be prepared to present their areas of focus and priorities for change to school district leaders.

Elementary and middle school students in Salem, MA Public Schools.
Elementary school students from the Gulfton neighborhood in the Houston Independent School District (HISD).
Participants will receive financial stipend upon completing the program.
